Baltic languages

The Baltic languages are part of the Indo-European family of languages and are closely related to the Slavic languages.

The language group is divided into Eastern and Western Baltic languages. The only group with living languages today is the Eastern Baltic language group, which comprises Latvian and Lithuanian. Estonian is not a Baltic language linguistically speaking – and not even an Indo-European language. Rather, it belongs to the Baltic-Finnic group of languages within the Uralic language family.
