Matching

Matches are either exact or fuzzy, meaning that there is a degree of similarity between the source text segment and a previously translated source text segment.

Before translation, the source text is analyzed to see how much of the text has been translated previously. 100% matches mean that the source text matches exactly a source text segment in the translation memory and can be reused with no other action required by the translator than proofreading. An 85% match, for example, means that some of the words in the source text segment are not the same as the nearest matching source text segment in the translation memory. The translator will then need to check the suggested translation (target segment) and edit it so that it is a true translation of the source text segment.
