Pre-translation

There are many different ways of pre-translating a text. The most common is to translate it based on the segments stored in a database (a translation memory). Each segment of the text to be translated is compared with the source language segments in the translation memory, and if an exact match is found, the segment is put into the corresponding target language segment in the document.

However, it must be remembered that the same segment/sentence in the source language may be translated in different ways depending on its context. A safer way of pre-translating a text is thus to use a tool such as ContextTM which also takes the context into consideration.
