Semitic languages

The Semitic languages group belongs to the Afro-Asiatic family of languages.

Semitic languages are spoken by around 270 million people, mainly in the Middle East and northeast Africa. The largest language in the group is Arabic. Other languages in the group include Hebrew, Ethiopian and Maltese. One characteristic feature of the Semitic languages is that their written languages often use few or no vowels at all.
