Tagalog

Tagalog is one of the two official languages of the Philippines, the other being English. The language is also called Filipino.

The name was introduced to spread its usage throughout the country and thus become a competitor to English as the language to be used in government and politics. There are over 200 other languages spoken in the Philippines.
